Wat Phra That Doi Kham
Wat Phra That Doi Kham is a revered Buddhist temple located on a small mountain just southwest of Chiang Mai city. The name "Doi Kham" translates to "Golden Mountain," reflecting the temple’s scenic location and spiritual significance.
The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 7th century during the reign of Queen Chammathewi of the Hariphunchai Kingdom. It enshrines a sacred Buddha relic, making it an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, especially those born in the Year of the Rooster, according to Thai zodiac traditions.
One of the temple’s most iconic features is the large seated Buddha statue, standing at 17 meters tall, visible from afar and offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley.
